It is important to regularly clean your hookah. Knowing how to clean it properly will exponentially improve your smoking experience. Always remember to clean it after every session!
- Disassembling the hookah
Take off your hookah vase, grommets, tray, hoses, adapters, and its diffuser. Become familiar with your hookah and its part. It only takes a few times to learn how to put it together, take it apart, and maintain it properly.
- Use hot water to clean
Using hot water is the best way to clean it. Never go from cold to hot, or the other way around, because it will crack the glass base.
- Cleaning the shaft, hub, and downstem
Use cleaning brushes to clean these parts. It takes a few passes to scrub off any lingering residue. If your hookah hasn’t been cleaned in a while, it may take several minutes to clean them up.
- Washing the hookah base, or vase
You can use cleaning pads and dishwashing soap to clean the vase. If the shape made it difficult for the cleaning pads to reach inside, you can use cleaning brush to scrub it.
- Washing the grommets and adapters
Make sure each grommet and adapters are rinsed off with hot water. Use mild soap and go easy with the brush.
- Cleaning the hookah bowl
Always wash it thoroughly after every use, and make sure there is no lingering residue on it.
- Washing the hose
For washable hose, rinse it by putting the hot water into one end until it flows out the other end. Once it has been rinsed, swing the excess water out, hang it and let it dry off naturally. If you do not have washable hose, then just air it out. Make sure all the smoke has been blown out and swing it in a circular motion to get as mush of the unwanted particles out.
- Cleaning the tray
Wash the tray with water and make sure all of the moisture has been toweled off before coals are placed on them.
